Modern Déjà Experiences - Various perspectives

Various perspectives

Depending on your particular interest and/or field of study, the aspect(s) of déjà experience you will concentrate on will differ. Jews and Christians, for example, are happy to learn that paranormal déjà experiences provide support for instances of foreknowledge as found with prophets and through dreams in the Bible. New Age proponents and Hindus wonder if déjà experiences provide evidence for reincarnation and/or out of the body travel. Psychoanalysts want to know what psychological function(s) déjà experience may or may not have for those having them. Psychologists study various aspects of memory, recognition and familiarity. They even attempt to reproduce déjà experiences in the laboratory using hypnosis and other approaches. Neurologists, especially those studying and treating epilepsy, want to know where the responsible cerebral region(s) is located from which such experiences arise. Neuropsychologists want to discover the cerebral mechanisms that are involved. Those with a literary and/or philosophical background concentrate on the whole notion of duplication as encountered in déjà experience.
